The Wartburg women’s track and field team won its second consecutive national indoor track title Saturday at the NCAA Division III Championships in Greencastle, Ind. The Knights won the long jump and the 4x400 events and compiled 33 points to overtake the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which was second with 29. Providing shelter for pets displaced by the 2008 flood in Waverly and helping reunite a stranded puppy and its family garnered national attention for Dr. Andrew Moeller ’94 of the Waverly Veterinary Clinic. Jim Ernst ’70, CEO of Four Oaks, received the Corridor Business Journal’s Innovative Nonprofit Award for Leadership Excellence.  The award is designed to recognize and honor nonprofit organizations and executives who demonstrate innovation in their daily operations. Ernst, of Cedar Rapids, has been with Four Oaks since 1979. Four Oaks is a Cedar Rapids-based child welfare agency that in recent years has become the largest such organization in Iowa. Dedicated to helping disadvantaged and hurting children become successful adults, Four Oaks serves 12,000 children annually in all 99 counties.

 

Damen Heitmann '05, recently graduated with honors from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.  He was also featured in the seminary's 2007-2008 Annual Report.
